A Wicked Night with Heaven’s Dog

My hubby and I went to see Wicked last night, great show, loved it! If you haven’t seen it, go!  The show ended around 10:45pm and we only had a light snack before the show so we were super duper hungry. We knew Heaven’s Dog was closeby and closed at 1am, it was walking distance, about 1.5 long blocks from the Orpheum Theatre.   We heard very mixed reviews about the restaurant already,  many people know how I feel about paying for overpriced Chinese food, so many have forewarned me about the restaurant. However, since it was still open, closeby and we were starving, we decided to try it out! I guess it was good to know what to expect before I went there, I didn’t have high expectations at all. And yes, the prices were high for what we were getting, but it was a night out with my hubby, so it was actually nice to be eating at a stylish late night joint!

The restaurant is very chic-the bar,  seating, space to even the plates, everything about it was great design!  Honestly, it a place you would bring a date. It was pretty empty when we got there, it was late afterall, but they were still serving their late night menu. We ordered the Braised Pork Belly served with buns, Spicy Seafood Soup served with wheat noodle, Wild Flounder served with ground pork, ginger and green onions. And yes, we had room to try a dessert,  the Cashew-Passion Fruit Torte!  Oh, and since I never drink, I ordered myself a Coke, they had Coke from Empire, it was made with Sugar Cane!

Okay, the Braised Pork Belly served with buns was alright, I wasn’t very impressed. Maybe it was late, but the Pork Belly was a bit dry, the buns were perfectly steamed though! They were nice and split our Spicy Seafood Soup served with wheat noodles into two big bowls for us. This was good, but it wasn’t spicy at all. I didn’t know what to expect from wheat noodle, but I have to say, I really liked it! The Wild Flounder was the most expensive entree we got, when we got the order, we both looked at it and said the same thing, “Where’s the rice?” It was tasty, the fish was fresh, but the soy sauce infused with the ground pork, ginger and green onions was really salty!  We never usually make it to dessert because we are usually stuffed but since they used the words Passion Fruit on me, I had to say yes. I am so glad we made it to dessert because it was REALLY good, it was the best part of our dinner!

Food blogging on my new BB!

Now I can food blog on the go if I want! Using my BB is still very new to me but luckily I’ve trained on my hubbies BB before he bought me my own. I think he was tired of me using his phone to take food photos! Haha!

Frozen Seasoned Frenched Rack of Lamb from Trader Joe’s

I love TJ’s! We basically coordinate our grocery shopping by going to Chinese Markets one weekend and then TJ’s on another weekend.  We really enjoyed eating this Seasoned Frenched Rack of Lamb the first time, so we decided to have it again! If you want to try this out, it’s located at the frozen section! This flavorful meat is marinated in garlic, salt, ground celery, canola oil, sesame seeds, rosemary and other spices.  It cost around $13.00 plus tax, it was perfect for the two of us! It’s also really simple to prepare, just defrost it and put it in the oven for 25 minutes for medium rare! And that’s it! It was just as good the 2nd time around!
