Feasting at Woodhouse Fish Company with My Bestie

I’ve been meaning to try Woodhouse Fish Company, it’s been on my list of places to try! Since my Bestie was home, we decided to give them a go!  We went to the Fillmore location on a Thursday night, the restaurant does not take reservations, walk-ins only. We arrived early, around 6:00pm, so seating was not difficult. I must say, they got very busy around 7:00pm, there was definitely a wait. The hostess/server who was very sweet wanted to seat us at a small two top table, I requested a bigger table since we tend to order a lot, she realized we were there to pig out!

Of course we ordered everything to share! We started with the Kumamoto Oysters, I love Kumamotos,  they were very fresh and sweet! We then got our Fried Whole-Belly Ipswich Clams, I didn’t know what Ipswich Clams were but they are a New England delicacy and they are big juicy clams, these were sooo good! Then our Split-Top Maine Lobster Roll came out! Oh my, where do I start? I complained about how Sam’s Chowder House Lobster Roll was too buttered up recently. I have to say, I enjoyed the one at Woodhouse Fish Company much more, it had the mayonnaise and the bits of celery and crunchy fresh lobster! YUMMM! And the golden fries served with the Lobster Roll were well done and crispy, just the way I like them! Our last order was the Stuffed Artichoke, Split, Grilled & Stuffed with Dungeness Crab! This is normally served with Bay Shrimps, but we had it with all Dungeness Crab at an additional charge.  It took a little time to enjoy the artichoke but it was all worth it! Last but not least, the kitchen gave us a dish on the house, it was one of their specials, the Fried Soft Shell Crab over Arugula, Sprouts and White Corn. I really liked the soft shell crab and the combined ingredients, however, the dressing was a little too much, so I ate around it instead.

Overall, we were very happy with our experience at the Woodhouse Fish Company, the seafood was fresh, the service was great and the ambiance was nautical yet hip, will definitely return for more!
