Comfort Rice Plate at Cordon Bleu

Cordon Bleu is definitely a hole in the wall, and just like any hole in the wall,  it is always busy! For the last month, I would try to go there when I didn’t bring lunch to work, especially on the days I am craving some good ol’ Vietnamese comfort food. Because it takes a while for the food to be ready when you order there, I learned that ordering over the phone and taking my time to get there was the way to go. So, I called recently and the phone was busy, I tried for about 20 minutes and finally gave up. The next time I tried, there was no answer, because I wanted their Imperial Roll so desperately, I decided to walk over there and of course, they were closed. Yes, what hungry disappointment! So today, I decided to try them again, and YES, they picked up! 20 minutes later I found myself at the once again busy joint at around 1:15pm on a weekday. I got the #1, featuring the perfectly crunchy yet chewy Imperial Roll…YUMMM, Shish Kebab and Meat Sauce on Rice! The shish kebab was a little tougher than I remembered, but the MEAT SAUCE was good, I’m sure it’s not the healthiest thing, but it is so damn good poured over the rice!
